For more than 60 years, UMMC has offered laboratory services to patients at University Hospital and our affiliated clinics and hospitals. Now, as part of our mission to create a healthier Mississippi, the academic medical center is expanding its program throughout the state with UMMC Lab Services.
Who we are
Supporting the work of our laboratory is a team of more than 250 medical laboratory professionals and support staff. This includes pathologists and PhDs versed in the latest developments in laboratory medicine.
UMMC Lab Services is medically supervised by board-certified pathologists, and staffed by PhDs, certified medical technologists, clinical laboratory scientists, cytology technologists, laboratory technicians, cytogenetics technologists, and histology technicians.
Our transport couriers are thoroughly trained in the care of specimens, and our billing, registration, and call support teams are ready to serve anyone who needs our help.
We are accredited and registered with:
- College of American Pathologists (CAP)
- Joint Commission (JC or JCAHO)
- Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)
- Food & Drug Administration (FDA)
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
